2018 was a great year for Wolf Records and especially for the blues! Wolf Records is real blues label! This year we produced some amazing CD´s,
Snooky Pryor – All My Money Gone, this a very classic harmonica blues album! Snooky Pryor created the amplified down home sound of post-war Chicago Blues. His singin´ and harp playing was influenced by John Lee Williamson (Sonny Boy I.) He recorded in the 50´s on the Labels J.O.B., Parrot & Vee Jay Records. In the 70´s and 80´s he toured again frequently and also recorded great CD´s (mostly on Electo-Fi Records and Blind Pig). In the 70´s he recorded the Wolf-CD “Sad and Lonesome” with Homesick James and also toured Austria. This CD is a mix of unreleased live and studio recordings!!!
Special guest is Homesick James, who is also singing two songs!! This CD is Blues history !
Memphis Minnie – Killer Diller Blues, Memphis Minnie was such a great blues singer, she represent the country blues ! Memphis was the greatest “woman with guitar”! She played with great musicians like Casey Bill Weldon, Kansas Joe McCoy and Little Son Joe, who also became her husbands. In the 20´s, she also played with Willie Brown, Robert Johnson´s “Friend Boy”. Her hits were “Bumble Bee”, “Me and My Chauffeur Blues” and many more! On this CD are her best recordings from the 30´s to the 50´s. The great Bukka White said: “She was about the best thing goin´in the woman line”.
Errol Dixon – Midnight Train, this CD has songs, which has been never released before and is one of the best he ever recorded. On this CD Errol plays “Blues-Standards” like “Stormy Monday”, “Kansas City”, “Next Time I See You”, “Rock me Baby”,… but also great songs of his own: “Pretty Baby”, “I´ve Got The Blues”, “Can You Hear Me Baby”, “Foot Stompin’ Boogie” and of course his big hit “Midnight Train”!
Dana Gillespie – Take It Off Slowly, great new recordings by the Queen of European Blues with the great Al Cook Band! After a very long time there is a brand-new CD from the queen of european blues, Dana Gillespie. This time she is singing some erotic songs, which are nice to listen to. The CD has brand new material, but also great covers Dana is in a great form! There is no soul blues or rock blues, just pure traditional blues!
