The Musicians:

Lurrie Bell: Guitar and Vocals - Son of famed blues harmonica man Carey Bell, Lurrie picked up his father's guitar at age six and taught himself to play. He was clearly gifted beyond most. In addition to that, he grew up with many of the Chicago blues legends around him. Eddie Taylor, Big Walter Horton, Lovie Lee, Sunnyland Slim, Jimmy Dawkins and many more were frequent visitors to his house. They all helped to shape and school him in the blues, but none as much as his father's long time employer Muddy Waters. Lurrie Bell's elegant and intense guitar playing and passionate vocals have made him a favorite at clubs and festivals around the world and have earned him a reputation as one of the "leading lights" in the future of the blues.

Tail Dragger: Vocals - A wonderfully dramatic showman Tail Dragger also possesses one of the most authentic and distinct Chicago Blues voices ever. Born James Yancy Jones in Altheimer, AR, in 1940, he was influenced as a child by the electric Chicago blues of Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, and especially Chester Burnett, the Howlin' Wolf. Jones was a Howlin' Wolf devotee, right down to his deep, gruff voice. After moving to Chicago in the '60s, he began playing with blues legends on the West Side and South Side. It was Howlin' Wolf who gave him the title "Tail Dragger" because of his habit of showing up late to gigs.

Eddie Taylor Jr: Guitar and Vocals - To those of us who knew Eddie Taylor's music and his legacy with Jimmy Reed, watching his son and namesake come along and put a career together is tremendously exciting, and to see Eddie Jr. play his father's cherry red Gibson stereo with nearly the same quickness of fingers and the familiar stinging staccato attack is a marvel of continuity. Maybe it's genetics. Maybe it's cultural. Maybe it's just discipline and a good ear. Whatever it is, it's just fine.

Martin Lang: Harmonica - The youngest member of the group at the age of 34, Martin has spent half of his life playing and studying the music of the Chicago Blues Masters. Not only has he paid his dues in the south and west side clubs, he's also played with and learned directly from many of the veterans who were part of the Chicago Blues harp scene in the 1950's. He is one of the featured harp players on the 2002 CD release "Harmonica Blues Orgy" with Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Little Arthur Duncan and Easy Baby. He also has appeared on record with Tail Dragger and with Eddie Taylor Jr. Willie Hayes: Drums - Hayes is one of the most celebrated and sought after drummers in Chicago. Willie has played drums behind all the blues greats, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Koko Taylor, Mighty Joe Young, and many others.

Russell Jackson: Bass and Vocals - Longtime bass player for BB King, Jackson's bass playing credits include stints with the Silent Partners (Mel Brown & Tony Coleman), Katy Webster and Kenny "Blues Boss" Wayne.
